Well, Emma Roberts appears to be revisiting that whole nepo-baby business just one week after she addressed her silver spoon status on a podcast. As People reported Tuesday, the American Horror Story actress talked about her famous family again in a new Flaunt Magazine story. Referring to our very own New York Magazine cover story on nepo babies from 2022, which Roberts was not included in, she apparently joked that she should’ve been offended by the omission.
“It was a cheap shot to put all the celebrity kids on the cover of a magazine on babies’ bodies,” she said. “It’s like maybe the ‘Nepo Baby’ conversation would’ve been a more interesting article written intelligently in Vanity Fair with nuance, but instead, it was kind of this viral hating-on-people thing.”
“I’ve lost more jobs than I’ve gained from being in the business,” she added, when asked if she thinks her last name helped get her through the door during the audition process. “People have opinions, and sometimes maybe they’re not good opinions of people in your family. I’ve never gotten a job because of it. I know I definitely have lost a couple of jobs because of it.”
In June, Roberts made an appearance on an episode of the iHeartMedia’s Table for Two With Bruce Bozzi podcast, in which she spoke of a similar phenomenon that’s affected her career. “People kind of only see your wins because they only see when you’re on the poster of a movie. They don’t see all the rejection along the way,” she told Bozzi. I get that! And still, something tells me Roberts is going to be just fine …
